The University of Technology Jamaica’s (UTech, Ja) Calvin McKain Library located on the Papine campus, has started utilizing more technology in its daily procedures in light of the COVID-19 pandemic. Though the library had been making plans to start using more technology in their daily procedures, in the future, the pandemic has caused these plans to be moved forward. The library has now put in place many different features that will enable students to perform the majority of their library functions with online instead of having face-to-face interactions. Some of these technological adjustments include a self checkout machine where students can check out their library books on their own and also the ‘Ask a Librarian’ service which is an online assistant that students can bring their queries to instead of having to find a librarian in person.
